Abengoa Bioenergy Trading Europe has reached an agreement with Zeroemissions for the neutralization of the greenhouse gas emissions generated by its activity. This new project is part of Abengoa Bioenergy Trading Europe’s commitment to sustainability and against climate change.
Neutralizing emissions consists of offsetting the CO2 emissions derived from an activity, supporting projects that contribute to reducing or eliminating emissions in other places. It is the application of the balance principle, understanding that both environmental damage and its protection transcend borders and are global issues. Neutralization isn’t proposed as a complete solution to climate change but rather as a complementary and effective mitigation tool that shows that the organisation is aware of its environmental impact and is taking measures to reduce it.
The end result of the neutralization will involve Zeroemissions issuing a “Zero Emissions” certificate. In order to be able to issue this certificate Zeroemissions must remove recorded VER credits and emissions from its internal records, with the aim of compensating for the resulting equivalent CO2 emissions.
