Zeroemissions held a course on the Inventory of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions in the CREA building on the 6th and 7th April. The training course was given by Andrés Zancada, an expert in Labelling and Certification.
During the course the basics for conducting corporative inventories of GHG emissions were presented, with a special emphasis on the ISO 14064-1 standard and the GHG Protocol.
Those attending the training learnt about the most general aspects of the emissions market and how to manage and inventory the emissions their companies generate. They also gained more knowledge about the cataloguing of emissions according to their origin, through the study of scopes 1, 2 and 3, as well as the current protocol that regulates this system.
The theoretical training given was completed by two examples of the two possible situations that may arise in the inventory of emissions: service companies and product companies.
In these cases, the students were able to apply the knowledge they had gained and see how and in what circumstances each one of the procedures should be used.
During the training session issues such as the present carbon market and the prices between which it oscillates, the regulatory bodies of this system, Clean Development Mechanisms or the management of the United Nations and other international organisations in this field were also studied.
The students were also given the opportunity to ask about their individual doubts and some questions raised by the presentation.
The course’s closing addresses were given by the managers of Zeroemissions and Sevilla Global. In this final session, both speakers highlighted the importance of sustainability in the business world and encouraged all those present to implement respect for the environment within their companies.
