Since 1987 the autonomous Andalusian Administration has kept its pledge to citizens to publish a diagnostic report on the environment in Andalusia every year, called the Environmental Report of Andalusia (IMA). The aim of this report is to include all the progress being made and incorporated in the current environmental schemes.
Abengoa’s new headquarters in Seville and its Sustainable Mobility Plan have been presented in the report as a pioneering initiative that corroborates Abengoa’s commitment to the environment. This report, which is issued in paper form upon request and is also available in an online version, emphasises that CPA is the first business park dedicated to innovation in Andalusia and the largest, private initiative, technological business complex in southern Spain.
The 2009 IMA also mentions the work carried out by Zeroemissions in 2009 and the work it is presently doing through the Palmas Altas Campus (CPA) Sustainable Mobility Plan. The report highlights, among other things, the efforts made to reduce the negative impact of transport and become energy efficient as well as to improve employees’ quality of life and reduce their commute time. The challenge of mobility and access to the workplace has assumed a key role, with the aim of achieving the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets proposed by Palmas Altas Campus.
The Regional Government of Andalusia, through this environmental report, highlights that CPA, with a capacity for up to 4000 employees, was the perfect site to develop a transport plan, because moving to this new location eased employee’s acceptance of new mobility measures, as they had to change their route to work anyway. Employee collaboration is vital for the success of the Sustainable Mobility Plan developed by Abengoa through Zeroemissions. Through this plan it is aimed to promote Palmas Altas Campus as a leading workplace for sustainable mobility, and make this part of Abengoa’s work philosophy.
The twenty-third edition of this report, the 2009 Environmental Report of Andalusia (IMA 2009) promotes, as suggested by the European Union, the production of environmental information with the aim of exchanging, sharing, innovating, networking and making both the consultation and downloading of environmental data and indicators accessible, meeting transparency and efficiency criteria.
