Zeroemissions participates in the joint meeting of Biocarbon Fund participants

The Bio CF has got the objective to achieve environmental and social benefits through capture and conservation projects of carbon in forests, agriculture and other ecosystems.


The Bio CF has celebrated his last meeting in June 22nd, in which all the fund members, Zeroemissions among them, have participated. In this sense, the economic contribution of Zeroemissions reaches 10, 5% of the total fund and produces numerous side benefits in regions where projects, provided in the fund, are developed.

BioCarbon Fund participants will endeavor to meet, and exceed, the requirements of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the decisions relating to social and environmental standards for CDM project design. The benefits this fund produces are turned into diverse initiatives such as the LULUCF capacity building workshop for negotiators (Land use, land use change and forestry), roundtables on validation and verification of LULUCF projects, guides and reports about the state of the forest carbon markets and conferences y events.

Likewise from the fund total amount,, Bio CF has destinated a vaste sum to the projects Chile SIF Afforestation, China Guangxi II, Congo DRC Ibi Bateke, India Afforestation in Himachal Pradesh, Kyrgyzstan Tien Shan Biodiversity, Moldova II and Trinidad and Tobago. These projects also promote the local societies development and the environmental maintenance and improvement.

Biocarbon Fund undertakes various initiatives aimed to achieve environmental and social benefits through capture and conservation projects of carbon in forests, agriculture and other ecosystems. So projects that capture carbon in vegetation and soils can create significant benefits along with mitigating climate change. These benefits include land-use and land management changes that lead to immediate improvements in local livelihoods and also to greater adaptability of agriculture and ecosystems to climate change.

Climate change means both a development and an environmental problem, due to existed vulnerabilities in poor communities living in rural areas and which will be the most affected because of their lack of capacity to respond. Therefore, the Biocarbon Fund works to achieve an improvement in the response to climate change in these communities.
